To learn the political structure of the community of the Portuguese-speaking countries, so that students can understand the similarities and differences between these different countries. To analyze the growing status of these countries in the international arena and how to cooperate with each other in various fields to jointly promote economic, political, cultural and Portuguese development. Understanding the political systems of these countries, especially the executive authorities, is important to understand the meaning of the common political strategies of these countries.

To study the natural geography and human geography of the Portuguese-speaking countries (Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tome, and Principe and Timor-Leste) and the distribution of these countries in the world. Based on the development of these countries, the course also explores the assessment and management methods of natural resources, natural risks and environmental risks, their land planning systems and the formulation of land exploitation strategies.

Therefore, the purpose of this subject is to briefly describe the process of the formation of Portuguese; to study the history of the movements giving rise to the formation of the Portuguese language region; to analyze the birth of the Portuguese language areas/countries chronologically.

Special reference will be made to Macao in which Portuguese is used as the official language.

The history of the Portuguese-speaking region is much earlier than the age of the current Portuguese-speaking countries. The historical changes in these areas have affected the local language characteristics. Besides, some settlements where overseas citizens gather also belong to the Portuguese-speaking areas. So not only the concept of Portuguese language should be explored, but also its political implications should be investigated. As such, the course aims to conduct a brief analysis of how the Portuguese language has co-existed with local languages in each Portuguese-speaking country, and against this backdrop, to evaluate the impacts of immigration.
